System Restore on/off settings

System restore is where all the settings of your system are stored to restore your system to a previous working and non-infected state if ever you find your system in a non-working condition due to any system files missing or if the system is infected with any virus, trojan horse, worm kind of malicious programs. Also you would occasionally find a situation in which you would have to disable system restore and remove all the system restore points to to get rid of any malicious code (virus, trojan horse, adware, worms etc) that is stored in your system restore.

The way to achieve this is to Right click on the “My Computer” icon on your desktop and then click on “Properties” when a window pops out click on the “System Restore” tab within the menu of the window. Now, you would see “Turn off System Restore on all drives” with a check box beside it. Check in the check box and click “Apply” a warning windows pops out with a warning that kind of reads “You have chosen to turn off system restore, if you continue all the existing system restore points will be deleted, you will not be able to track or undo changes to your system. Do you want to continue turning off system restore”. Now click Yes and then click OK. Now the system restore is turned off with all the previous restore points deleted. If you removed the system restore points due to a malicious code infection to your computer, now scan your computer with any good antivirus like Kaspersky or ESET Nod32 and make sure the firus is removed. Don’t forget to enable the “System Restore” once you have found the virus is gone. You can do it following the same steps above and UN-checking the “Turn off system restore on all drives” box and then click “Apply” and then “OK”. That’s all, now you are good to go!
